daisy lowe gets old

What A Night

WELL...I could not have asked for a more spectacular or special night. When my mum and I sat down with Red Bull to create my dream 21st I never imagined we would create something so amazing. We created so many fun memories, I loved every second.

The theme was "the enchanted and mythical wonder" and everyone made such an effort - it was a feast for the eyes! Most people hired costumes from this AMAZING place called Prangsta and we had elves, lions, water spirits, tree nymphs - everything! I had two beautiful costumes - my first, from Prangsta was like an ice queen which I wore to dinner and then a bespoke creation I worked on with Kate Halfpenny for the party.

The House of Fairytales curated the evening with games in between our amazing feast at the beautiful Babington House, there was an incredible rap featuring my friend Siobhan and Toby Kebbell (RocknRolla/Control). Then my mum played a video montage of me as a kid which was so sweet, if a bit embarrassing!

The music was fantastic - Jack Rabbit Slim, a great rock-a-billy band then my friend Twiggy Garcia DJ'd - the whole room was jumping up and down to Rage Against The Machine - I loved it!

All in all a night I will never, ever forget.

- this, sadly is DAISY LOWE'S account of her 21st birthday party. is it just me, or did anyone else spend their 21st in a dodgy club in Limerick doing red colored shots in a bad dress? wow, makes me nostalgic for the good oul days of throwing up outside a nightclub after all your friends bought you a drink....

article from vogue.com

heidi montag's surgery

Right, enough is enough. I would never normally write about, the hills or the city. Because A- I’ve never watched it and B- I don’t even have a TV. But, there comes a time when you have to put your dislike for bottle blonde dolly birds aside and limber up your laptop for a good oul bitch….

I recently viewed the surgery of Heidi Montag with interest.

Everyone was very quick to jump on the bandwagon of ‘Oh god she ruined herself’ and ‘She’s only 23!’ and I agree. Where as she was generically beautiful before. But she had a natural prettiness.

Following 10 surgeries in one day where she had Liposuction, breast lift and implants, botox, a nose job, buttock implants (WTF!), ear pinning and thigh implants (again WTF?) and here comes the worst part, she spent $30,000 on it and ended up :

Looking 20 years older, a bit more then freaky and like something you would not want to meet down a dark alley by the george on a friday night.

Her breasts look like they could kill a small child.

Anyway, It says a lot about the society we live in that this can be considered normal. In fact Grazia jumped on the bandwagon and wrote a great article about some 20 somethings they dug up somewhere who are all having surgery. Now I am in agreement concerning surgery if there is something seriously wrong. You need to have something reconstructed, you had a accident, you get the idea. Then surgery is a great idea.

But not when your 23 and not a minger before hand exactly and you spend stupid money to make yourself look like a 40 something year old housewife.

Only one person in one magazine seems to be asking themselves the question that came to my mind. What kind of a surgeon does this to a young girl? This screams of surgery obsession! I know it a recession where every little counts (well, he/she lives in LA and works as a surgeon, he wont starve)  but seriously? Allowing one person to have 10 surgeries in one day ? did someone not pull her aside and ask questions? Where are this girls friends ? her mother? Her husband pratt? (I LOVE that this girl has a husband I can call pratt. The headline jokes write themselves)

Not one person turned around and said, your beautiful the way you are. Don’t change?

So there you have it. These are the people who should have had questions asked. Not Heidi. She has an addiction. Stating herself as ‘beyond obsessed’. But it seems by LA standards, if your not sitting in a squat with a needle pumping yourself full of a big bag of drugs your fine. if Your not drinking  so much you pass out in a skip every night then your fine but if you have 10 pointless surgeries which you almost die from (her heart almost stopped) then apparently, your also fine. People just turn a blind eye. Because in LA this is an addiction it’s ok to have.
see the above photo? yeah, not a minger before right?

sunglasses for summer 2010

A girl never forgets her first piece of designer. It may be the thrill of the bag on your shoulder bearing the store name or the thrill of knowning it did in fact cost that much. But most of the time it’s the thrill of knowing you are right on trend.

For most girls, the first bit of designer we all try is the designer sunglasses. A less expensive affordable piece of designer luxury.

It is worthwhile spending a bit extra on a pair as they do promise to help protect our eyes from the sun, more so then your average primark pair. I remember my own. Smooth classic black wayfarers. (I had a Bob Dylan obsession that would not quit that summer) and I strolled in Brown Thomas. While my own look is obsessed with wayfarers now. (and yes, closet clubmaster wearers, I have tried them and prefer wayfarers)

So when Brown Thomas asked me to come and view the collections for the spring summer, I jumped at the chance. (In fact strolling up the Dublin streets I felt a little more then 007 on a  mission) I was not disapointed. Giddy as a school girl on a sugar rush I pawed my way through style after style. Logos jumped out at me, Prada, Gucci and Dior, OH MY!

As always Brown Thomas remains the best place to see all the new styles and enjoy some selections which are not advailable just anywhere such as Victoria Beckham and Rock and Republic. Some of the styles are advailable already but a few shall be hitting stores soon in March 2010.

In the end, as always, my heart was promised to a pair of ray bans. So enjoy kids, here is the Miss Penny dreadful guide to summer sunglasses…….

Ray ban – This was the best collection we viewed. Brown Thomas are now featuring a selection of amazing wayfarers. Special edition glasses with floral designs in bright colors and graphic subways printed glasses. Ray bans are classics. To me they stand for statement. Rebellion. Punky alternative creative attitude. They also remind me of Bob Dylan which is great as he is amazing. The fantastic limited edition prints are edgy and modern and a fantastic twist on the classic ray ban. We were also delighted to see the reissue of the clubmaster. Readers of the blog will note previous articles we wrote on our adventure into the world of clubmasters, but the new clubmasters are no longer block colors but a more graphic striped style which as of now will be perminatly added to the ray-ban collection. Hurrah!

The clubmaster dominated celebrity sunglass style last summer but, I expect that this year, the subway printed glass will take off.

Featuring a print of a map of New York’s subway these glasses were my pick of the collection. Advailable now with the subway print on the inside or outside of the frame. Personally, I prefer it on the outside of the frame. It’s more of a statement piece. The best part about way farers and clubmasters (oh my!) is that they are very affordable. €130 for a limited edition pair. In my opinion. Well worth it.

Versace – Quite a colorful change from some of the darker lines on display. The 80’s influence stood out immediately. Bursting forward with some serious aqua, raspberry and purple shades. Mainly circular styles. Versace had an extremely strong presence and would definatly not be for the faint of fashion! These are highly fashion forward and create quite a strong look. Circular styles can be difficult to pull off if your like me, have a round face. But those with a pointed, heart shaped or oval face can carry a circular glass quite well.

Our pick would definatly be the intense blue glasses. Totally biased as blue is one of my hottest colors for the next season. It also looks great on blondes (being that I am blonde this works quite well for me)  I chose the ones which are slightly more square as they are easier to work on a  rounder face.

Tiffany’s – Exclusive to Brown Thomas I instantly loved two pieces in the collection. First of all, I loved the small Tiffanys charms which are advailable to change on the side of the glasses. A small detail but very elegant but showcase Tiffany’s attention to detail. I also loved the mint green shade on the frames. Three different charms are advailable. A heart,  A T and a Tiffany logo. Given that mint green nail varnish was one of the biggest trends of last season ( that chanel nail varnish anyone?) I am not ready to see it go yet. I loved the fresh spring appeal of the green. It instantly updated quite a traditional circular lense. Bringing it into 2010.  The line seemed very feminine and quite delicate. Definatly a must have for those who are looking forward to the candy colors of S/S10 as shown on the catwalks of Burberry and Valentino.

Our pick is already mentioned above. The mint green. Pure elegance.

Stella Macartney – Modern metallics sit comfortably on a distinctive collection organised in 5 catagories after 5 zodiac signs, Gemini, Leo, scorpio, Libra and Virgo. Flat visor styles featured strongly in the collection. Aviators are given a modern metallic edge making a very contemporary collection.

Any item from the collection has a luxiourious and timeless factor. It will never date. This is truly a collection you can rewear season to season. A truly classic style.

Our pick was the classic bug eyed style in the bright turquoise. A girl needs a bright color injection every now and again!

Prada - Never mind the devil. I wish I wore Prada. Even more so after viewing the beautiful line advailable from Brown Thomas for S/S10. Prada to million including myself will always mean a classic style. Something which will never go out of fashion, never look dated or tired. And I am happy to report the new line is every bit as iconic as Prada have always been. Classic circular styles in black are advailable in a lighter blue or ruby shade allowing for a style to fit every outfit and every character. Even a yellow aviator advailable for the more fashion conscious and daring amongst us.

Our pick of the collection was easy to make. The yellow aviators really stood out. Maybe it’s that here at the site we are attracted to brightly colored items but,  I think in the midst of a recession, we could all use a little lift and a little light in our lives. These aviators are the way to do it. Classic 80’s style with a twist of citrus fresh yellow thrown in, given that yellow featured on the catwalks in the works of Marc Jacobs and Versace to name a few, it’s one shade set for S/S domination.

Dolce and Gabbana -  Dolce and Gabbana styles seemed quite classic on first glance. It took a second glance for me to appreciate the craftsmanship that went into developing such a fantastic range. Each pair seems to be an iconic style which has been taken in 2010 with a modern twist. Think the type of glass a modern Audrey Hepburn would have worn had she had the choice in 2010. Aviators are made chunky, circular styles are given D&G trademark logos, and visor sports styles featured heavily. Some beautiful colors with the raspberry purple standing out strongly admist the black aviators and white visors.  The attention to detail in the line was incredible. It is certainly a collection which attracts both the high glamour loving lady and the every day need to wear a sunglass which is actually functional.

Our pick is a strange one. We quite loved the circular / square glasses. Sounds odd right? It’s not, I can assure you. While quite a unique style they are certainly show stopping and different. Prehapes the more fashion forward lady with fashion nerves of steel. These are not for the faint of heart. They demand a high heel, a statement coat and the determind look of ‘fierce.’

Chanel – You know it instantly. That shortens of breath, that feeling of dizziness. The ‘chanel effect.’ That feeling of excitement when you can see the interlocking double CC’S famous as the chanel logo.  Chanel is one of the most iconic brands that you instantly do not need to be told anything about. Beautiful, elegant and classic are words that come to mind when discussing chanel. (most of the time with bated breath) This season, chanel focused on designing a tweed effect on the glass frames.  The effect took 18 months to develop. While chanel is famous for tweed suits, bags and of course her two toned shoes (amongst a whole host of other amazing fashion inventions too numerous to name here) developed in 1957, the effects have been carefully added to her glasses. Who can forget the amazing circular glasses from last season worn by Mary Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie with the fade from black to clear on the lense? This season, the fade has switched to the frame. Black and white frames with the iconic logo appearing on the side of the glasses.

Chanel also loved ribbons and bow. So at the side of the glasses there is a bow featured almost as if a metallic ribbon has been tied with the logo present. This was an amazing collection.

Our pick was the hardest thing to do. We could not choose.  I think it was possibly the tweed effect glasses. I love the fact that someone had to work for 18 months to produce such a beautiful effect. It just proves how dedicated Chanel are, as a brand to preserving Coco Chanels brand vision. Which in 2010 in a campaign headed by one, Lilly Allen is just as relevant as ever.

We love a bit of fashion espionage. So when an invite to the inner sanctum of Irelands fashion arrived in the inbox, we simply could not refuse. So donning our best long black coat (the one with the amazine statement shoulders) we set off into the head offices of Brown Thomas for a sneaky peek at their new sunglasses collection. And we were blown away.

It is easy to forget how important a good pair of sunglasses actually is. Ray-ban for example have been making sunglasses since 1937 and have special lenses to absorb UV and infrared rays. So have made sunglasses for that long, they know what their doing. But a pair of sunglasses can also be an outfit maker or breaker. It is easy to wear the wrong shape for your face shape or the wrong color for your outfit. Which is why it is a good idea to drop into the store and actually try a few pairs on.  It’s also a great way to inject a little designer into your life without the expense of an entire outfit. Experiement with the differnet styles and believe us, we saw everything from Versace to Prada to DVB and back again. Being in style for 2010 Spring Summer has never been so easy.

Miss Penny Dreadful would like to say thank you to Brown Thomas for inviting us and allowing us to view the collections. All images are from Brown Thomas. Thank you!

topshop body

i love this body. it comes from topshop. would look perfect under jeans or a dress. i full on love it. in fact. i think i shall buy this. yes. i think i shall.......
just promise me kids, i don't care how much you love samanda. those tragic fuck ups from big brother, don't wear your body over your leggings or tights. it gives you the worse camel toe and also everyone can see the poppers. it's wrong.
shudder....camel toe.....shudder....

my happy shoes!

I do love a good love story.
A successful stalking if you will.
terrible photo of me.
but i wanted to share this with the world.
stalked these shoes down to 30! in a size 8 - next to impossible to get! am so happy!

may even wear them to the launch. if i can stand in them. Look at them. sex. pure sex.

i went on a little spending spree as a reward for being a good girl.

bought some books with a voucher i had
for 20 euro in the body shop i got, 2 things of body butter, a scrub and a nail file. raspberry, cherry and apricot flavours! I am going to be stinking.
in topman i bought some black suspenders to go with my black jeans as i have an event coming up in a few days i may need them for.
I also bought an amazing t-shirt from tee and cake. with a quote from chanel on it.

safe.
i love it.

the 90's are vintage. sadly.......

people! the 90's were for the most part, shit.
as I read Grazia with a fag and bated breath as I always do. I noticed two things. one, I needed a new box of fags and 2, the 90's were back according to grazia.
So sucking down the final fag in the box I contemplated what this means to the children of the 90's. myself included. I am 24. I was early teens in the late 90's. I wore the double denim Chloe is telling us is hot right now, I clomped around in the clogs Topshop are flogging this season and I certainly remember the bumbag situation of 96 like the ones at Ashish this spring.
and what did it teach me?

that there are certainly aspects to the decade I wish to see never repeated.

so here goes,

Double denim. I don't care how Chloe your 'look' is. it's laughable. it's shit. it's bwitched from 1998. it is. I don't care. what wears good on the catwalk does not often translate to the runways of dublin city streets as well. so, wear with caution.

Grazia are also pushing PATCHWORK DENIM!!!!!! children no!!!!!! this is indeed a bwitched situation.

clogs, are manky. there I said it.

bumbags are interesting. i don't quite hate these as much as i should. i don't know why. i'll come back to this again.

so don't be fooled. the 90's may be back but take the best bits :

nirvana
grunge
maxi dresses for daytime
smashing pumpkins
checkered shirts
trainspotting

and run with it......

Louise Goldin wins sponsorship award

it's official,
topshop designer Louise Goldin has won the british fashion council sponsorship award. her designs for her spring summer collection were a stunning display of light blue folded floaty fabrics. a burst of summer fresh after a long cold winter, i can assure you!
the award has been previously dominated by legends such as blog hating Christopher Kane (who will forever on this blog be known as blog hating christopher kane), Marios Schwab and Erdem. So go on the girls!
this money will allow her to show at LFW. what she shows remains to be seen....but we look forward to it......
someone at vogue had this to shite on about : "Louise has shown perseverance and drive that parallel her forward-thinking talent and design nuance," Vogue's Emma Elwick explained of the panel's choice. "She is pushing knitwear into a new zone of sophistication."

true. all her knitwear was folded, sparkly and almost corseted. it was lovely. brought to mind the 70's. in a sea of designers ripping off the 80's and 90's. its more then welcome. i hate the way a decade can be fashion forward after the traditional 20 year period. it's annoying.
but mind you,
i'm just grumpy as I remember the 90's. I lived through them. and now some people are calling the 90's vintage. ouch.

models getting too old for fashion?

AGING SUPERMODELS DESIGN OWN FASHION LINES

this article appeared in the independent newspaper, how do you feel about it? Have we got enough models turning designer for us to not care about designers diffusion lines anymore? are they still relevant? do you care?

With Kate Moss's handbag debut for Longchamp circulating on the internet, Heidi Klum's maternity lines, and Elle Macpherson's long-established lingerie brand, it seems as if namesake fashion lines are turning into supermodels' most popular 'retirement plan.'

While Elle Macpherson, also known as The Body, has long stopped working full-time as a model, her colleagues Kate Moss and Heidi Klum seem to be planning ahead: even though neither of them can complain about a lack of bookings, they have both increased their activity off the runway.

Moss previously designed for UK retailer Topshop and released signature fragrances, but her stint at French label Longchamp marks her first real move as luxury design consultant. Klum, on the other hand, has been branching out as a TV host (Germany's Next Top Model, Project Runway) and just announced the release of two lines for maternity label A Pea in the Pod.

Fellow German Claudia Schiffer told the IHT Luxury Conference in Berlin last year that she, too, is working on her first own fashion range of cashmere, while former top model and actress Amber Valletta released her first line of sportswear with Swedish brand Monrow last year.

The career move doesn't seem to be reserved for just the 'veterans,' however: US wild child Erin Wasson has designed for surf and skate brand RVCA, and Coco Rocha just announced she would be debuting her own design at the upcoming Grammy Awards.

Some fashion professionals don't take kindly to the model-turned-designer phenomenon, however: designer Hussein Chalayan has been quoted as saying that "if you haven't had the training and you know nothing about clothes, it kind of demeans all the training that designers have had.

- it's interesting. my views are simple. I can't stand Kate Moss for topshop. I found her last oh say, 6 collections sloppy and uninteresting and frankly a bit dull. There has been nothing outside of her first collection i liked. Her first collection had some lovely pieces which I own (a white dress, a few vests and a maxi skirt) and I found them beautifully cut and quite well designed. thats it. no more. I do think it's time to call it quits. jumping on the designer bandwagon when you can no longer model as you are too 'old' according to the industry,

so, i ask you this readers,

how do you feel about supermodel superlines ?
do you care?
if so why?
lets get some discussion going.....

marilyn manson for gareth pugh. I. AM. WEAK!!!!

is there anything better in life then marilyn manson modelling gareth pugh?

i'm fucking weak......

anyway, god, what a flashback to 2001 sitting at the back of the bus with the other mad fools in black clothing, blaring my manson cds - cds, yes, no MP3 players - thinking, no one UNDERSTANDS ME! MY PARENTS DON'T LOVE ME! I'M ALONE IN THIS WORLD!
some took it further then me.
i stopped after all the other kids thought it was cool to wear black lipstick. but living in a rural town in countryside of Ireland, at the time people thought i was genuinely either insane or a sex pest. I knew different. I was different. I was not long for this world. I was not of this world!
in short,
i was another teen emo freak.

hats! galore!

holy batshit crazy batman! everyone is engaged! this year, it is in vogue to announce you are going for the walk down the aisle......two friends of mine got engaged. (one of which is a cousin of mine and the other is a close friend of the blog)
CONGRATULATIONS!
now, hats must be bought....
but in other news, celebrities are now jumping on the matrimonial bandwagon by announcing their intentions to make honest women out of people.

enter, russell 'untame-abl' brand and katy ' lesbian tease' perry
david 'seriously, who are you trying to kid' williams and his byore.
and get this, the big one....
kate moss (couldn't think of anything to put in between her name that didn't have cocaine in the title) and her byore, erm, forgotten his name, oh jamie from the kills hince.
so there you go....

hats all round!

SPY

SOUTH WILLIAM STREET

DUBLIN

'WALK WALK FASHION BABY'

9PM SHARP

MMM......you know you want to....

all that glitters, the film.

hot gossip folks. we hear that Pearl Lowe's book, 'all that glitters'. which we recommened a few weeks back, is to be made into a film. Here at the convent we are OBSESSED with pearl Lowe. Totally. gorgeous, funny, hard working, gorgeous, lovely husband, ride of a daughter and honest.

incase you've been raised in a cave, Lowe is daisy lowe, the models mother. who was a singer/musician in the 90's, happily with Danny from band Supergrass ( I find him so odd as he looks just like an X I once had) and turned into a designer after spending a lot of time unhappily addicted to drugs. she fought the addiction and now runs a successful business. happy times! so thats the crash course really. you should check out her website, google her, buy her book. or on a cheaper note, her daughter has an article with the sunday times style section today.

This is one film I can't wait to see!

here are a few other films We can't wait for :

1 - the new tim burton Alice in Wonderland film (may)

2 - sex and the city 2 (march)

well, thats it really......we don't do cinema a lot because I can't be somewhere that doesn't serve gin and there are children running around, oh and they make you smoke outside in the cold.

georgia jagger does drugs. and apparently no one else does

oh dear! whose been a naughty girl then????

as the Irish Mail was so quick to point out, today's ''newspaper'' or rag whichever way you look at it carried pictures of Georgia Jagger in it. Great. but the headline splashed across the two pages gleefully pointed out Jagga having some erm, white powdery fun. and i don't mean playing in the snow.

(or maybe i do if you want to put it that way)

now, fair enough I do see why they print such stories, 'isn't it an awful shame?' , 'Kids on drugs (jagga is 18) where will it end?!' but mostly the Mail struck me as gloating.

especially since Jagger of the Mick variety (Daddy Jagga) is tee total and totally tea these days. free from desire to do any substance.

and his 18 year old daughter is chowing down on the white stuff?

oh no, we can't have that.

so along with photos which appear to show the daughter of Mick whiping her nose, sniffing something and talking to friends outside a pub in London, there was a story about her calling a friend who arrived, brought a packet wrapped in clingfilm and then she sniffed it and went back inside.

hhhmmm....a model? on drugs?

never!

anyway, What bothered me to write about it was this : how many of the reporters so quick to point the finger at a young girl like that, are clean? how many of those reporters have never had a line? ever? Journalists are not cleaner then clean. they are not immune from pressures of which Georgia is also under. We operate in the same circles purely because these girls, when drunk or wearing designer, pay our wages!

lets cut the crap here. this was not about showing the dangers of being young in hollywood - i mean, look at Peaches Geldoff, no one wants that - it was about rubbing her famous fathers face in it, showing the world that they had a scoop and scorning a young girl who is just starting her career and did not have the sense to go to the bathroom and do that.

because lets face it. the queue for the loo would be long behind all those journalists dying for a piss and a pipe.....

I am not suggesting that anyone from the daily mail is definatly involved with drugs or anything like that. of course. this is purely opinion. my opinion. if you don't like it. don't read it. I am also going to have to state here that I am not saying we should all do drugs. drugs are stupid and pathetic and so on. but i am stating that its time we got realistic about it.

I have no tv. so, what do you do?

not having a TV leaves me at an odd one. What do i do with my time?
The answer is simple. I watch TV. but not as we know it. yes friends, I watch TV boxsets. So, here I shall part some wisdom to you about the TV boxsets currently ruling the roost at the convent headquarters.....
is not out yet. it is in fact Gossip Girl series 3. I have seen a few episodes of it already and I am currently re-watching series 2 to prepare for the coming of the new ones. the girls are all in college now and the rules are being totally re-written. its still funny, watchable and the fashion is of course, fantastic. So if your not watching it now, get into it before series 3 hits TV, if you are watching it and keen to know when you can buy it play.com have it at 40 euro advailable in, august. sorry guys! I do no a good site to watch it on, but I cant state it here as it's illegal. sorry!
I haven't seen the second series as HMV are charging stupid money for it. But happily I have just discovered play.com are offering it for under half the amount HMV are. HAPPY DAYS! so next pay day I will be buying that and everything that goes with it! (aka - it's cheaper to buy the two on play.com then one) and getting it sent over to watch. this show is funny, smart and sexy. although I do have problems with Belle revealing herself recently (stupid move) as a intelligent scientist. (it was more interesting when she was anon ) but I can reccommend the first series most definatly.

started because I was bored. I had rented everything at the video shop (well, not everything but you get the idea) and out of the blue I remembered a friend who swore blind to me it was funny. so I am now on series 4 (I have to slow down because series 5 is the last one for now as 6 is not out yet) and still watching. but I don't know why. I really don't. It's the same story in every episode and yet I am still watching. I like all the characters for some reason except Cameron (who was better brunette - just saying) but Its worth a look. it can be quite funny when it wants to be, interesting in medical terms and house is the only character you don't really want to slap.

adhoc london!

once upon a time I lived in Cork and Limerick. I would travel to Dublin on the bus and leap into the great unknown wilderness of, AdHoc on Temple Bar. I would pause over expensive plastic necklaces, peruse the tutu isle and check out the wig section. in short. i would need to be forced to leave.so one day Up to Dublin I strolled. only to find it had shut.
my heart broke.

and I never recovered.

Until I discovered ADHOC was a chain, and there is a website.www.adhoclondon.co.uk. where you can get all the wonderful bits advailable in the dead dublin one. rejoyce! so these are my picks from the website!

skins series 4 starts again.....

the debate concerning SKINS rages on also. I have to be honest. I hated the new crowd. they seemed like children compared to the adult acting older crowd. That wan, Tony's sister, can't think of her name. is irritating and when I heard that the new series of skins is to start on channel four, I just kinda went, oh, right.
they are all over the cover of company magazine (which lets face it, is a bit boring and well, shit) having had a make-over in a pathetic attempt to drum up publicity for the new show.

but, it seems that the current cast is trembling with fear....or they should be....

given SKINS style of beheading - i mean firing - the cast after 2 series, this is the last series with the current cast of rejects in it. and they have some big shoes to fill. Dev Patal is now a huge hollywood star following Slumdog Millionaire and has a really hot girlfriend, Cassie is in Doctor who and Nick (yeah, yer man from about a boy) has taken his eyebrow to the stage in a few plays and has a few films out. So all really are much in demand. but then they could act. the new crowd cannot. so it remains to be seen what the new crowd will do when it comes time to kick 'em out.
hopefully they will take effie with them.

and hopefully someone will have taken the scissors to the lesbian twins manky wonky fringe. please. before i do it... (see above - IT'S WONKY!)

so here are some rumours and confirmed 'bits' from series 4

  • will young will appear as a school counsellor ( yeah, because he is SO relevant these days)
  • aha! confirmation that Effie WILL leave SKINS after this season (finally) SKINS writer Georgia Lester had this to waffle on about :

'Iwill miss working with Kaya Scodelario (Effy) when the cast are axed at the end of series four.

“I think she really has grown within Skins and the audience has loved her. But I think it’s another challenge for the writers and for the audience to accept – if we do get recommissioned – a completely new cast.''

  • Effie will finally choose between the disgustingly acted cook and the too beautiful to be smart freddie.
  • the opening sequence of the first episode will feature - according to rumours concerning casting - 300 mixed race people at a church....random.
so thats all we know about.
here's what we would like to happen :

cook realises he is a huge twat and leaves town. on a horse called jeffery.
the lesbian couple realise that the red haired one is hotter then the blonde and effie is hotter then the blonde so she dumpes the blonde and takes up with effie.
cassie comes back for an episode where she takes up with effie and the red haired one.

- i'm going to stop now.

but here is some other news :

MTV are remaking SKINS for the US. again as with all good UK shows, the Americans who can't make shows like Skins themselves for some reason. have run out of good ideas for shows (series 6 of desperate housewives anyone? god, would someone please put the limping horse out of it's misery) and have pinched another one of our beloved shows. see, the ruining of the office, ab fab and queer as folk. they somehow manage to take it and suck every last bit of fun and joy out of it. here is what someone in head offices somewhere had to say about the matter :

We are delighted to be making ‘Skins’ for the U.S. and in particular, for MTV who have embraced the show and its ambitions and unusual production process. We are looking forward to talking to teenagers across the U.S. and making a show that reflects their lives in every aspect,” said Charlie Pattinson, CEO, Company Pictures

- oh god, talking to teenagers across the U.S - this could go badly wrong...

the due date for this to hit our screens is 28th of feb.....
