holland's ma

how cute is this?
Henry Holland's ma wrote a twitter report on his show for next season. It's adorable. Apparently his mother is quite the twitter-er. How cool? my mother gets confused with texting......bless.
this is her report on the show :

It’s 5.15pm on Saturday and I'm front row at House Of Holland together with Pixie, Alexa, et al. How come? Well, I guess giving birth to the designer 26 years ago may have had something to do with it. But it wasn’t all fun and frolics, I had a show report to write so here goes...

"Holland, the party-boy-turned-designer has really hit the spot with this collection. Silk, cotton, wool and denim were all printed with a swirly paisley motif, which was echoed on the matching tights from his Pretty Polly range. Beautifully tailored striped wool jackets, dresses and skirts added a sophisticated touch..."

How am I doing? Hilary Alexander eat your heart out, or should that be I.Y.F?

Can't keep it up, just want to say I loved it - the bandanas, the Caribbean earrings, ooh and the sweat pants with the shearling jacket - just the thing for a trip to Waitrose on a frosty morning…

Now I know it isn't all about me, but could you put me down for one of the long pink jackets with the sea green lining and those socks with the chain motif in gold? And do you think I could do the purple striped dress with the zips for Fleur’s wedding?

Wow I love my son's job...

zoolander 2

zoolander 2. you heard it here first. ha! apparently Ben Stiller is well on for it. And has signed up to play Derek Zoolander once more.
brilliant!
theres more to life then being really really really really good looking you know......

alexander mcqueen is buried. a sad day.

That gay guy who is friends with Charlotte in Sex and the city once said, 'This funeral is better then fashion week'. Well, the fash pack definatly pulled out all the stops to remember Lee McQueen who was buried today. There was an array of amazing outfits on display. It's a sad day. We have lost a genius, a fashion genius.

nina ricci shoes

Nina Ricci shoes. god. the longing. it's unreal. it actually hurts. like really really bad bruises....

5 min post

we had 5 mins to post this so no photos but, news broke today about a line of vintage sunglasses for sunglasses designer Linda Farrow by singer Roisin Murphy. Not confirmed yet but was the hot rumour running around LFW

just a little something to get you through the day

“Kiss and make up--but too much makeup has ruined many a kiss.” –Mae West

Look out Moscow, crazy's in town!

apparently incase anyone cared, Naomi 'the phone' campbell has moved to moscow.

"Well, I don't live here anymore," she told the Metro. "I live in Moscow now permanently and I really love life there. I'm really happy and things are just going really well. You know, I just don't know how many more catwalks I'm going to do from now on. We'll just see."

yeah right? give up modelling, the fame, the attention, the money, the glamour, the sleaze? and for what?

A couple of russian nesting dolls and a furry hat? I think not. I give it a week. (ok a month) before she's back organising fundraisers and throwing phone at assistants. and you what?

We wouldn't want it any other way! she makes our hissy fits look normal

arm-aaaaani for gaga sketches

One of the wonderfully weird stage costumes designed by Mr Armani for Gaga. thought she had a whole house of people to do this? her fashion fluffers? anyway, Mr Armani designed her costumes for the golden globes as well. (yes that weird looking spiked yoke in her hand) I kinda think we have seen this before though, it's not very original. it's kinda been done, by her already. a sparkly blue body suit with hot pants and statement shoulders and matching sunglasses. yawn. I thought the headpiece which reminded me of thunder at the golden globes was much more exciting then this re-run.

saucy secrets

ok kiddies, secret time : guess which fairly well known brand has gone bust? they also have a sister brand which has been carrying them for quite some time. the company are keen to keep this out of the news which so far, it has been. They carry lines suitably designer for some and the sister line is cheaper and affordable for the sporty girl more interested in crispy tennis whites, but, for a younger client. The company are apparently giving the staff quite a bum deal though : no redundancy pay or benefits.
Hmnmm......

tired and emotional

I hate blogging when I'm tired. it just makes things seem so difficult. it's also hard to get the sense of humour across that I normally slice in there as well.
Basically just been at work all day and trying to design some new looks. I got halfway there with a break through inspired by Luella s/s make-up for this season. I am snowed under with projects at the mo which is taking all my time.

Anyway, it's been all change and all go lately.
I never thought in a millions years people would ever take me or my blog seriously. but as I found myself talking to some wanker at an event recently with a glass of champagne in my hand getting papped, I thought, wow. this is the oddest thing.
In many ways I keep thinking I'm like the odd kid in the back of the class. I had no idea what I was doing. I keep waiting for someone to realise I'm me. and kick me out.
I mean, last Saturday after running to get my invite to the show which was being held hostage in Dawson street, I ran to BT to get into the show (wont say which one) for a certain sporty lux brand. Sipping on champagne again I had 20 mins to get my sketches and finish my drink before running to Arnotts for the underwear show. I had my super black jacket on over my uniform to hide the fact that I came straight from work. Super cute gay guy (he was so sweet and seemed really young for someone serving drinks at a fashion show) gave me an odd look when I sat down in the jacket and wouldn't take it off. oh well.

Exhausted does not even begin to cover it.

I fantasize about running away. So, I think I will. I'm going to have one day where I don't blog, I don't go to work, I don't work on my college stuff, I'm not doing my make-up, My phone is off, I don't call anyone related to work, I sleep in and I eat whatever I like.
Basically everything I don't allow myself to do.
who's with me?

some of you have been asking about where the mentions of the rabbit and the pirate have gone. ok, so here goes :

the rabbit has been missing in action lately. missing from my last visit to the city.
the pirate is playing happy families with the misses and isn't missed.
simple as.

topshop tropicana

Topshop release another spring / summer collection. Introducing Tropicana. A collection inspired by New York street style with a holiday twist. Acid colors, denims and prints make this an interesting collection and a great alternative to all those girly girl pink collections out there ( A wear I'm looking at you)
Our pick of the collection is the really cute bright minis with hearts on them. totally cute and gorgeous!

these glasses I have got to see. they look like they could be epic. Or completely OTT, one of the two. I don't know. i'm a little exhausted tonight. I have no idea.

I hate blogging when i'm tired.

I heart London

if you can't make LFW this year. say it with topshop's freedom jewelry (who by the way are totally ahead of the game this year. the stuff rocks!)

oooh, changing my mind

On second thought, I do like this view of the dress. Prehapes I have been too quick to judge.....I need to see these again I think. The previous photos were a bit shit. This may actually work. I would even go as far as to say the PVC looks nice from where I am sitting....

hermione de paula wigs and shit

Hermione de Paula, Never mind the clothes. I am more interested in the wonderful wigs with blunt fringes and bright blue eyeshadow.

the clothes were nice as well but i do love the black lips and bright blue piercing eye make-up.
fab

ashish for topshop

i've been having second thoughts about these. my first reaction to them was, oh holy god no. It's all a little bling bling studio 54 clog style. then I kinda thought, well, a little bit epic are they not?
I don't know what in the name of god i have to wear them with. I don't even know if i could walk in them. all i know is, I want them.

central saint martins at lfw

Every designer comes from somewhere. Some were students. Some were in central Saint Martins. This is the collection of designs storming catwalks at LFW this week from Masters and BA fashion students at the legendary college. Apologies as I don't know who designed what. but I picked these as my pick of the bunch. class....

Christopher Kane A/W/10/11

er, Mixed reports concerning Kanes new collection. I normally like his stuff, but this, this found a little.....something. I don't like the PVC in it. which is odd because I LOVE pvc normally. I think it cheapens the look. Also the Irish dancing style shoes look awful. I think the flowers look a little cheap 90's as well.
this was my fave look from the collection. I think it's really cute. then you have those god awful shoes again. I love the lace part of the dress
This I like up until the waist down. the shoes again are crap but the lace panel descending from the leather piece looks terrible. out of place and kind of limp.
This I do like as well. I love the shape and the leathery fabric. However I think the flower pattern ruins it. I would wear it up  until that. combined with the shoes it makes it look a bit irish dancing for me.

this is sooooo Irish dancing. but I do like the arms. It's almost a cape effect.
cute coat. bad shoes. end of.

I feel bad dissing this collection. not just because Mr Kane has had a few things to say about bloggers in general. But because I normally like his stuff. His animal prints are really really cool. However this I find a nightmare and a bit cheap looking. He has produced better. While leather and PVC are difficult to work with and it comes across in this collection he could have left off the flower pattern which is what cheapens the look. even the shoes wouldn't be so bad without that pattern.
All I can take from this is that leather and lace is back for A/W big time. In fact slicing panels of different fabrics together was a theme at Wang as well this A/W. So it looks like we will be mixing our textures for next season. and who knows, i'd love to be wrong about this collection. I hope Vogue or some other stylist can put it together in a way that doesn't make me feel a little sick in my mouth.

a few scoops with Henry Holland

Henry Hollands Vogue blog was alive with pics of him messing with his a/w invites. printed on a small scarf these are both functional and informative. So below is Mr Holland playin' around. fun times.

is it just me or does anyone else think he would be gas craic to go out with for a night on the gargle?

furry eyebrows at topshop unique

these are the furry eyebrows at topshop unique. WOW. i love them. oh I want them for a night in Panti bar.....

viv westwood at LFW

amazing shots from LFW. the vivianne westwood show. Below is Pixie Geldoff (the nice one) modelling for the queen of rock and roll fabrics : Westwood herself.

I love you.

we were right. Jourdan returns....and this time, it's trench coated....

We were right.
again.
God does that feel good. Jourdan Dunn arrived into Aquascutum for their show at LFW all fresh and thin. She's only ten weeks after the baba. Modelling a simple trench coat and crap shoes the girl done good strutted her stuff along an all star modelling cast show. It felt good to have her back.

small prob

experiencing some probs with how many blog posts are coming up on the blog. can people let me know if there is an issue for them

Miss Penny dreadful a year ago.

I decided to check what I wore to last years Alternative Miss Limerick. I had forgotten I did this. Totally pissed on bubbly I had ten mins to do my make-up. So I grabbed my headpiece and veil from Oasis and threw on some MAC eyeshadow in a band across my face. I kinda love this. I think I'll rework this for the launch on the 14th of March. something new and exciting.
those eyelashes are long gone though. they came from stargazer cosmetics

tongue piercings

I got a bit of a giggle out of this old pic of me. Taken on my 24th birthday heading up O'Connell street in Dublin. I hadn't moved yet and was still living in Limerick. My hair is so short. So imagine my surprise when I looked a little closer.
My tongue piercing is totally crooked. completely sideways.
I got that done when I was 15 and really into body mods at the time. I got it done in Raven tattoo studio in Cork. I have two piercings I really love amongst them all. My tongue and my neck.
I have had :
2 top ear piercings
1 x industrial
1 x conch piercing
9 x lobes
1 x nipple
3 x tongue piercings
3 x lip piercings
3 x nose piercings
1 x neck piercing
3 x belly button piercings
1 x tragus piercing
and a few others for good measure.
all of which have been done by random piercers the ireland over.
dublin did my nose and lip piercings
cork did the rest
my 2nd belly button piercing was in galway
and my tragus in Limerick.
years and hundreds of pounds worth of work.
I wouldn't do it again. i've grown out of getting work like this done. i've kept only a few. but i love the ones I kept as they are part of me. My neck is my fave. If I ever work a job which asks me to take it out. i'd leave.
the most painful one was my side bellybutton piercing. that fecking hurt. even more then the tongue or the neck.
never again. which is why my belly button has 3 piercings instead of the 4 needed to complete the look.
so anyway, thanks Raven for piercing my tongue totally sideways
