Feast your eyes kittens - The Topshop Lookbook for next season bounced into my life this morning, and I need a lie down now....IT'S GORGEOUS! A combination of 1970's glam-rock and 1950's mod rocker, it's the answer to my fashion starved prayers!
I normally hate Spring Summer collections because I am opposed to all that cute fluffy floral stuff so I LIVE for the A/W lookbooks. I've so far had a glimpse at about four or five which haven't been released yet - and I have to say that Topshop have done it again. This is my favourite. Just as I dismissed Topshop this season for being 'too neon' and a bit cheap-ish (but not cheap to buy) they release a STONKER of a collection!
As usual there are clear defined stories here. With the 1950's mod rocker sexless style being my next 'look'. Although I have to make the point here - how has it taken Topshop so long to get on Brothel Creepers? (The shoes the model is wearing in the above photo) They have been another of the street trends which eventually make it into the high street (the biggest of the street trends to make it in has to be the leather look leggings that you wore for the past three seasons - they were started by bloggers and trend hunters - now they are a firm fashion favourite - the High Street went nuts for them!) Topshop hire people to know their trends. They have people who scout for street trends so they can be one up on the competition - so I find it weird its taken so long!
I am going to be poor as all hell this winter - but well dressed though! Now, I am loving that dress which manages to have a touch of the 1940s (which is set to be a big trend) but also has a massive dose of the 1970s (currently a big trend) at the same time. This means that designers are setting a new trend by combining eras. Taking the best from each, and re-interpreting them as something different. It's like taking the colors from the 70's and the cut from 40's dresses and combining to make the above dress - and I wants it....

It's also hard to believe that those boots are not Marc Jacobs! His entire collection was exactly that! So if you voted on the sidebar for your trend for next season as polka dots - then your in luck. This ones for you kid!
