Kate Middleton - yawn

There's been a lot of dissing lately concerning Kate Middleton. The media are going mental over some comments made by Kelly Osbourne and then by Vivienne Westwood. (who critised her eye make-up)
It makes me smile. Because the aim of the game here is not fashion and not promoting Kate, it's about presenting the royals to a new generation who don't care about the history or importance of the monarchy. It's about the royals claiming - hey, it could happen to you, we are normal people too.
The more I see about how Kate wears regular clothing, from regular brands (whistles and coast type stuff) and how she recycles her wardrobe, the more it becomes apparent that the royal family at last have an idea of how to present themselves to the new generation of Britons. By pretending to be just like them.
She may be wearing a Whistles dress like Jenny from the block, but this girl goes home to an actual prince, in a castle and can afford to buy a Whistles dress every day for the rest of her life. What about that is ordinary?
This is why you see them going to award ceremonies, having ordinary days out and trying really really hard to pretend - they are down with the commoners.
In regards to the Viv Westwood comments - now there is royalty - bonkers royalty but still, not everyone cares or enjoys this royal revival. Not all of us Brits (yes I'm British, what of it!??!?) enjoy and think Kate represents us or this generation. Most of us want her to be a little less rigid, boring and unstructured. Much like us
