I totally do

Grazia Daily uncover Gaga's newest Irish designer!

Grazia Daily had an interesting piece today on the Irish designer responsible for the insane but brilliant piece Gaga wore for The Graham Norton show. It was a little bit like a wedding dress, but it's all good. The designer is Sorcha O' Raghallaigh, from Offaly who studied at Central Saint Martins and Grazia decided to send Angela Scanlon to have a few words with her about Gags outing her as her designer on national TV. (Can I also just mention that you can tell Norton was over the moon to have her there - he's brilliant though!)

- I would like to state that this, is not my work - you can access the whole article and pictures here : http://bit.ly/l2Mf4u and please do drop in on Angela Scanlon's blog as well for more information on the journalist : angelascanlon.blogspot.com

Grazia Daily: So, Lady Gaga said your name on national TV last weekend, how the hell did that happen?!

Sorcha O' Raghallaigh: Anna Trevelyan (Nicola Formicetti's assistant and an amazing stylist in her own right) spotted my graduate collection in June 2010. Since then I have been working on briefs for Gaga. She's also helped me a lot with other stuff and even styled my lookbook for A/W '11. She's kind of like my mentor and really she's responsible for the relationship with Lady Gaga.

GD: From Offaly to Saint Martins to Lady Gaga; that's quiet a journey in a short space of time. What's the master plan?
SOR: I moved to London five years ago, a nervous wreck! A week later I started in St Martins and it's one of the best things that happened to me. They completely nurtured my creativity and created a world where there was no restrictions or boundaries creatively! It's almost been a year since I graduated and there have been lots of highs and lows and struggles but, I'm beginning to feel like slowly I'm finding my feet. Lady Gaga wearing my dress on the Graham Norton show was amazing; like a surreal mark of a year on. As for a 'master plan' I'm not too sure!

GD: Have you designed many pieces for Gaga and how does it work?
SOR: I designed another piece which she wore in the opening scene of the Born This Way video! Basically, Nicola and the team request that you send sketches with your ideas and inspiration. If they like what they see it gets commissioned. Thankfully they've liked my stuff so far.

GD: Have you met her in real life and, if so, is she as eccentric as she appears?
SOR: No I have never had the pleasure!

GD: What do your mates/parents thing of the whole thing?
SOR: My parents and friends are really over the moon. They have always been very supportive through the good times and the bad times! I've had an overwhelming response from people and press back home in Ireland too, everyone has wished me well which is always nice.

GD: Your designs are medieval-inspired and pretty special, but I couldn't see, say, Victoria Beckham in them! Is there anyone else you're like to dress? (I think you should totally work with Florence Welch)
SOR: Yes, I have always wanted to design something for Florence, I think she's an amazing artist and she seems to have a magical presence when she performs. I would love to see her wear some of my designs!

GD: What's your dream commission?
SOR: Dressing Daphne Guinness would be a dream come true. I've designed gloves for A/W '11 with her in mind, so you never know!

GD: Three words to describe your A/W '11 collection?
SOR: pre-Raphaelite, layered, embellishment.

GD: So, what's next?
SOR: Hopefully to be able to continue doing what I love!

THE DREADFUL DIARIES : Sadness is catching...

THE DREADFUL DIARIES : Keep it up player

I have to keep smiling. I am physically exhausted and in a lot of pain. My health has taken a real beating over the past few months, nothing as bad as this week though. I'm in bed most nights by nine. Miserable and tired! I'm doing something I love and working hard to make it work, but right now I can't see past each day as I just have to power through.
I'm so tired that I am wondering just how I will have the strength to get through this weekend for Cork X Southwest! I think it's going to take a lot of red bull and courage!
Right now all I've been doing is watching re runs and getting my full ten hours - because it's badly needed. I'm fairly miserable since a lot is going on in Penny towers today - in fact all weekend too. I'm hoping I come out the other side smiling, but its hard.
I am however happy to be motoring on with work and having some form of work to go to. All I wanna do is get the thesis done and move on! In fact, I recieved a nice parcel today from Cardiff which has caught my attention and reminded me that the world as I know it right now, if it ends, then there is somewhere trying to catch my attention, could it be?
After all this time, could Miss Penny be leaving these shores for something possibly Welsh? I don't know! Guess we will all just have to wait and find out....

Model dies after falling 10 stories

This is really sad. Model Lashawna Threatt died on Saturday night at a birthday party after she and a friend fell from the 10th floor in the W hotel in Atlanta. It was a tragic accident as herself and the friend were play fighting in the early hours of the morning before they fell through a window and landed on a stained glass window of a sun room below. Threatt was pronounced dead on the scene where as the friend survived although she has multiple broken bones. Threatt leaves behind a fifteen year old daughter.
This is so so sad. "It appears there was no malicious act, no foul play, they were just wrestling each other. They hit the window, the window broke and they fell out," said Atlanta Police Lt. Paul Guerrucci.

--- UPDATE --- Apparently the friend is in a critical condition. Her name is Ciara Williams, a dancer-----

QUOTAGE!

“It’s honestly true that money means nothing to me. The only big things I’ve purchased are my dad’s heart valve and a Rolls-Royce for my parents, for their anniversary. And that was only because my dad had a Lady Gaga licence plate on our old car and it was making me crazy because he was getting followed everywhere, so I bought him a new car. Other than that I put everything in the show, and I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of The Monster Ball. And it was funny because I didn’t know! And I remember I called everybody and said, “Why is everyone saying I have no money? This is ridiculous, I have five number one singles – and they said, ‘Well, you’re $3m in debt.’

- Lady Gaga on how her costumes for the Monster Ball bankrupted her!

Fashion Fight : Naomi Campbell Vs Cadburys

NAOMI CAMPBELL VS CADBURYS

Jaysus, Cadburys are getting sued all over the shop. First was the lawsuit about the hologram they nicked off Alexander McQueen of Kate Moss (they produced something very very like it) and now Naomi Campbell maintains she is sueing over being involved in a racist ad campaign.
(Incase your wondering why this is racist, Move over Naomi, theres a new Diva in town - the diva is a chocolate bar. You see?)
“I am shocked. It’s upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful.” - Naomi told the Independent. After claiming she was exploring every option in tearing the financial crap out of them.
What I think is weird is, no one has noticed that okay, yeah, chocolate bar comments aside - does no one notice that the bar is surrounded by diamonds and Naomi was on trial for the whole diamonds scandal?!?!??! Erm, they didn't say Kate Moss move over...no no, it was Naomi.
According to Cadburys, who I am guessing are doing some MAJOR feather smoothing right now, they have pulled the advert and apologised. Time will tell if Naomi will accept the apology or not.
I'm still amazed by the fact that companies think they can do this because the person is already in the public eye - you can't. It's law that you can't use someone's image or name to sell a product unless you've paid them for it. That goes for civilian or celebrity.

++++++Does anyone know what happened with the McQueen V Cadbury case?++++++

+++++Does anyone know what happened with the advert featuring Tom Ford selling second hand cars? +++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Chanel polish - the gift that keeps on giving

Okay it's two days in and look at the STATE of the Chanel polish - that's a joke. I also discovered that it's the gift that keeps on giving - while it has no problem chipping and peeling away taking chunks of my nails with it, it doesn't give a damn about varnish remover.
Oh yes, I've actually just lost calories putting in elbow grease trying to get the thing off my nails. Scrubbing away like fury trying to remove all the stains as well. It made my fingers look like I had at least an 80 a day habit for the past forty years....Which is odd given that I'm only twenty five (well, I'm 25 for another 25 days at least)

THE BEAUTY SPOT : Model's know their stuff...

Models know what they are talking about when it comes to beauty products! I am impressed! After the horror that was sampling the new Chanel Yellow shade, I was ready to give up on summery nails and go back to my usual winter shades. Then I tried Model's Own nail varnish. Incase your wondering why all the reviews lately - I bought a HUGE bag full of new beauty products and am currently sampling all the different pots and jars, so expect a lot more of this type of crap for a while!
Anyway, if you caught my earlier beauty spot blog post about how shit the Chanel varnish was, then you'll know one of my first complaints was the really bad amount of layers I had to use in order to get the color of the bottle. This, the above picture - is the first coat of this varnish. It needed one coat. Okay, sold! I don't have time to sit there layering on nail varnish - but the other thing I don't have time for is, waiting for it to dry.
No such issue, it dried in seconds. I was so impressed that I didn't wait to see if it chips at all - I got straight to posting about it. I love the color (lilac dream) as well. I have another model's own to try in mink. Since I love my mink colors Nails Inc varnish and I've used nearly a whole bottle (according to levels of nail varnish - mink by Nails Inc is number one, Grey by Barry M is second and Hot Pink Nails Inc is third in terms of usage) so I grabbed another bottle of mink for when the Nails Inc stuff dries out/runs out/is used up.
I will totally buy another bottle of Model's Own though. I am impressed. I know they make other products as well - so may branch out into those too!

THE BEAUTY SPOT : Make-up Store purple eyeshadow

I've not been having much luck with make-up lately. But my luck changed this morning and I found myself test driving a new grape shade of M store eyeshadow. Make-up store are a Swedish brand, whose make-up I have become a fan of in recent in years. They have a concession within Arnotts on Henry's street and I have been known to spend my lunchbreaks in there picking out product. While I am more used to their concealers and foundations, this was my first time sampling their eyeshadow.
Impressed.com - The eyeshadow spread well, covered evenly and was a vibrant burst of color which thankfully looked the same in the pot as it did on my eyes. While I have yet to test the crease-osity, I am confident that it might just last the day. Hopefully anyway. Also, marks for making sure that the pot doesn't leave purple dust everywhere! I hate when you get a new eyeshadow and it leaves a trail of eyeshadow everywhere or the clasp breaks in your bag and it breaks - coating bag and books in whatever color your wearing.
While I am here I might add that their concealer with witchhazel is one of my beauty must haves. It lives in my bag and not only covers anything I throw at it, it also heals while it covers. Drying out blemishes so they fade faster, what's not to like?
Oh and they do great catalogues which feature really beautiful make-up ideas - worth picking up if your in store!

Cork X Southwest

Oh yes.....There's still time to get tickets you know!

Stealing from men...

Sometimes I like to sneak a peek at Topman and buy their T-shirts. What? They get better prints and their cheaper then Topshop! Not to mention men get a better student discount (15%) then women (10%) do. So here are my two picks of the litter (see what I did there - because the above Tee is a cat!?!?! - I should be shot!!! )

UPDATE : Red soul!

I had another email from a reader today - I do love getting emails/facebook comments and such, it cheers me up! - to add to the story about the red soles being manufactured by a Kildare teenager. I had wondered given Louboutin's lawsuit happy month, how he felt about someone selling stick on red soles. The reader said that the girl had appeared on the Saturday night show and had confirmed that Louboutin was completely okay with the product because you can't copyright a color.
He's a strange man. He's currently courtroom-ing it with two other companies (one of which is YSL no less) over the red soles appearing on their shoes. So why is it okay that someone is making red sole stickers? I don't understand! It seems strange alright. I'll find a lawyer and ask. I'm sure there is one knocking around somewhere - god knows this is a recession! Half the country is out of work including me! (playing CSI crime scene on facebook is not work - no matter how much I insist it is)

Thanks for replying to the story! Your comments and observations really do cheer me up - so please feel free to suggest, add, write, say hello - or accost me in the street (accost gently please - I scare easily)

THE BEAUTY SPOT : Just how bad the Chanel nail varnish actually is

Okay, seriously had to post pictures because I am in disbelief. I got an email from a reader who confirmed that she had had the same issues with her yellow varnish from Chanel and was pissed off after she waited and paid for it. So I decided to post the pictures of the state of my nails after ONE DAY.
I was not heavy lifting, driving a truck or making a clay bowl. I was sat at work typing all day and then the most stressful thing I did was eat a three bean salad on the way home. (seriously, Tesco - how amazing are your salads) This is what happened.
Considering Chanel charge a good thirty euro for their nail varnishes and the colors are considered THE colors of the season, this is really not good. (BTW - the nails in the picture are Barry M but I took a pic of me holding the bottle when I got it - Don't ask why) I would be seriously annoyed if I paid for it. I very nearly did buy the jade shade when it did the rounds. I guess price is no indication of quality and I would think very carefully about buying expensive brands again.
Barry M is my usual varnish of color and I know that without doing something stupid - my nails will last a good three or four days before they chip even slightly. I'm considering writing a letter to complain about the quality of this. Because I am that annoyed - and I have that much free time.
Now whose with me?
Has anyone out there got any Chanel make-up complaints? Or any make-up complaints at all?

Primark head bands

If your looking for a headband ahead of any festivals - Primark have the perfect piece. A series of flower headbands for under a fiver! Nice one! Sorted!

THE DREADFUL DIARIES : When the cats away - the mice decided to get drunk

THE DREADFUL DIARIES : Oh my good god, my liver....
What a weekend! With my partner in crime away for a wedding, I decided this mouse was defo going to play! So play I did! I was quite well behaved but man did I get some serious fun into this weekend.
It started with the IMMA exhibition opening on Friday, after the official stuff was over we headed into town to get started on the night. We chose the Morgan hotel for starts as I knew E (my partner for the night) would love it. I love the decor in the Morgan, so gorgeous. So we had some LETHAL gin and tonics before sitting on the beds in the smoking area and watching the man standing on the ledge playing bongos before deciding we would head off into the heart of Temple Bar.
We ended up in garage. I love this bar, I have yet to have a bad night in there. One thing led to another and before I knew it we were dancing to the Carpenters and talking shite to strangers. I floated home happy and a little drunk!
Saturday night saw me heading to Limerick after my head cleared a little, it was E's 21st birthday and after a dinner party we headed into town to see what the night held for us. It was an odd one but still incredible fun. After that we had some good music, cheesecake and bed!
The next day I hopped on board the bus back to Dublin and arrived in time to head to the Grand Social for a night of it. So much fun that I forgot to go home and arrived back to my place at 3/4 in the morning.
I'm in work now - sans voice thanks to a throat infection and feeling enthusiastic for the week ahead - I have two press days and a festival next weekend - OH! what fun. Full update as it happens kittens!
XOXOXOXOX
Oh yeah....partner is back today!

Imma : Art Loves Fashion

I was really happy to be invited to IMMA (Irish Museam of Modern Art) this weekend to attend the opening of the Art loves Fashion exhibition which marks twenty years of IMMA.
You may have noticed the window of Brown Thomas across Ireland are celebrating by featuring the work of some of each cities most talented artists (Limerick has Gerry Davis - a fantastic painter) So after a brief issue with clothing - I didn't know what to wear and getting lost - always google map things first - I ended up half an hour late with the sweat rolling off me!
Not a good look.
It was odd for me to see the fashion and the art world combined. There were a few people I recognised from Limerick but mostly fashionistas from Dublin.
I also got to meet Mary Katrantzou who had been flown over to exhibit some of her pieces. I was so excited. I love her work. She has never failed to design collection after collection that I would buy in a heartbeat. (if I had the money!) She is also responsible for the lampshade skirts that came down the catwalk this season. She is actually lovely and friendly, very willing to talk to people about her designs. I will post photos and more information in the following week once my camera stops having a complete fit!!!
In a unique move the models turned into statues for the night, walking down the catwalk before standing on podiums displaying the wonderful clothing. I am going to review the new collection for A/W as standing there gazing at the display I realised I hadn't done it yet! Ooops - bad blogger!
We did end up making a night of it, hanging out in the tent listening to jazz before heading off into the sunset to the Morgan hotel for cocktails and hitting Garage bar for some serious pints. I think I ended the night singing along to the Carpenters and pretending to be Kate Bush.

What we saw : I saw a prada stripy skirt and lots of color blocking
What I wore : A white blouse with large puff ball sleeves, black skinny jeans and platform ankle boots.
What we drank : pink champagne darling!

THE BEAUTY SPOT : Dior Addict disapoints me...a lot

I'm not having much luck with beauty products (see below review of Chanel's yellow varnish) this week and Dior provided me with little to write home about.
I got a present of a lovely Dior pink lipgloss. I was so happy as I LOVE the packaging. There is something so cool about popping the stick out from the outer lid. But then I am easily amused. I have found myself fiddling with the stick for the sheer hell of it when bored.
The color was shocking pink. I love my bright obnoxious lip colors so I was really excited about trying this - until I put it on and realised my rosebud vaseline had more color in it.
It was slightly greasy - like a lip balm not a lipstick. I tried about three layers before a slightly rosy pink appeared. I was surprised given that the shade was electric and I thought it would come up that color. No such luck!
I'm carrying on with it. I'll keep trying but then another problem appeared. The color fades. Now I am no stranger to fading lipstick given that I wear lipstick more then any other product - but this was a joke. Under half an hour and your re-applying!??!?! come off it!
For an expensive product I was shocked. Had I paid for this I would be seriously pissed off. It did have a nice enough color which only lasted for ten minutes after you put it on. Even without drinking/smoking/eating which normally removes lipstick. I'm sticking with MAC matte shades and Barry M pink lipsticks - the color and staying power is unrivaled.

THE BEAUTY SPOT : Chanel nail varnish - is it everything it's meant to be?

I recently got a pot of the bright yellow nail varnish from Chanel (Yes that's right, I got it!!!) However, I have to say - my nails look nothing like the professional job above. I had AWFUL problems with it.
First off - it needed serious layers to get to that shade - I mean serious layers. I was not amused. Then to top it off - it wouldn't dry. I normally do my nails before bed and having over done it with the champagne this weekend (no word of a lie - dying) it just wouldn't dry and I lost my patience.
It then dried streaky.
To the point where I will be removing it tonight and re-painting. I was shocked. Normally Chanel beauty products are supposed to be amazing and I have always found that to be so. Given the cult status behind this varnish - I'm not amused.
However, it was difficult to get - so I'm going to try again before I write it off!!!

Andrej Pejic has more magazine worries - this time it's FHM

I love Andrej Pejic - I think he's amazing and gorgeous! The above is a piece by FHM (Yes the mens magazine that hasn't been relevant since the 90's when 'lad culture' was considered cool) appeared on their website after they named Pejic the 98th hottest woman in the world.
It's pretty much a homophobic disgusting sneery piece written by someone who seems almost afraid of what Pejic stands for. The piece has been removed after people got offended and complained. But seriously, why do magazine websites seem to allow their online versions the freedom they don't have in print?
I mean take the Marie Clare debate about the 'fat post' from last year. (Where one of their writers proclaimed it was disgusting to see overweight people kissing or showing affection) That WOULD NEVER have been printed. So why do they feel the internet is down for whatever!?!
Is it because the internet is seen as less credible or reliable? I don't know.

McQueen exhibtion is to stay around for another week

Incase anyone is heading to New York, the Met are extending the McQueen exhibition by another week. So there is still time to catch it while you can! I'm DYING to, but unfortunately for me, I've no trips to New York planned anytime soon...(sad face)
It does make perfect sense though, figures showed that the exhibit had the second highest amount of visitors in the Met history. (Van Gogh was the highest)

Kate moss watch : we stalk her, so you don't have to..

More rumours about Kate Moss's wedding, apparently Mario Testino is going to be her wedding photographer - JAYSUS, Beats hiring Kevin from next door because he has the good camera doesn't it!

The other Moss rumour doing the rounds is that Kate will grace the all important cover of US Vogue for September - We all know how important that issue is, so if she did bag it - fair play to her!!!

I'm definately switching from UK Vogue to US. Looking at Coddington's work the other day made me realise how safe UK Vogue are playing it right now. I want excitement and stories with my clothes - not thin models looking moody.

Oh and incase anyone is wondering - Moss will be tying the knot on July 2nd! So get your hats ready - Never mind the royal wedding bollocks, here's the real shit!

Hot dresses.....made from Diet Coke?!?

Totally random on a Sunday morning, but new magazine Virgine got Ryan Yoon to photograph these dresses. While I don't know how made the dresses, it did remind me of the futuristic fashion competition Coke were running a few years ago. They got students in secondary school to design outfits using recycled goods and use performance art to show them off. I did it one year (didn't win!!!) and my school won it one year as well.

Does anyone know if they still run that competition? It was a great idea, possibly sponsored by the wrong company - teenagers do not need reminding that sugary soft drinks exist. Especially nervous tense teenagers who have been working on their clothing for the past few months and are running around with a hot glue gun...just saying!

Great shots though!

If anyone knows who made the pieces, drop us a line in the commentary box, I'd love to credit the actual designer!

Irish teenager tempts fate...

Erm, okay. In a month where Louboutin has proved he doesn't mind the odd lawsuit and is in a public slanging match with Yves Saint Laurent, this popped up in my inbox. This is Tara Haughton from Kildare. She's come up with a way to make your shoes look like Louboutins. With aid of a sticker, and a knife!
You can buy her 'kit' online and make it yourself! Have to say, it's quite impressive! Not bad really!
I don't know what the real Louboutin will make of this, but given that Tara is just a teenager, she's 15. It's quite impressive. It makes a change from the usual teenagers that hang around chippers throwing things at you.

I wondered to myself.....

I've taken to watching old episodes of Sex and the City in a desperate bid to fall asleep as my body falls into it's new routine. Which means that I'm in bed by nine and wake at six. Watching it has raised some questions for me. Given that the show is starting to date...

1 - There is no way in hell Carrie would be able to afford that apartment on her salary - not a hope. One column? She can't be getting much for it. Certainly not enough to keep her in fancy shoes.

2- I've noticed this a lot with other American sitcoms/dramas, the token gay character is a) always male and b) always single. I noticed it during True Blood, that Lafette FINALLY got a guy who actually wanted to date him. Normally gay men are portrayed as just having a series of one night stands.

3 - For some reason Samantha's clothes would not normally look okay outside of a strip club, but on her, it works. Dunno why!

4 - Why did they wait until the movie to give Miranda a decent wardrobe?

5- Has no one noticed that Miranda's son is called Brady and then she married Steve, whose surname is Brady. So the child is Brady Brady?

Okay. I have to stop before I go into meltdown!

"I love neon - it's so man-made and loud and obnoxious, but that's why I gravitate towards it, I

Model watch : Estella Warren arrested for drink driving and fleeing police

Wow, former Victoria's Angel Estella Warren is in a whole heap of trouble! She got drunk, drove, hit three cars and then did ran away from the police.
She was rounded up and escorted back though. So no more drama and lucky people weren't hurt. It's still pretty stupid though.
Although according to t'internet, she does not model anymore - I still recognised her from the Chanel advert with little red riding hood. How gorgeous?

THE BEAUTY SPOT : Snakeskin mani / pedis.....just plain wrong.

I've seen the python mani/pedi popping up on a few American blogs recently and I thought I'd share just how disgusting I find it. Doing this in preparation for next seasons trends will set you back $300 (spare a moments thought for the poor snake who lost a lot more) and you need someone to glue it onto your toenails. Shudder.
I know snakeskin is all over the place right now - but EW! Anyway, it lasts up to eight weeks before your nails grow and show signs of wear and tear. But still, EW!

Styleite.com had the deets on how it's done :

The delicate, almost transparent skin, which looks like very finely embossed parchment, was kindly donated by a four-foot-long female python who shimmied out of it one day, the natural shedding process for snakes as they grow. “Talk about renewable resources!” said Silacci as she laid small, textured pieces from the glossy, tubelike swath—meticulously hand-cut to fit the shape and size of each nail—on my toes between a thick layer of instant-drying gel base color (a deep blue called On the Dark Side) and a chip-resisting clear sealant. “Small snakes are usually my favorite. You get a lot more detail per square inch,” she mused, picking up a very fine artist’s brush, dipping it in a small pot of my accent shade (a metallic gray called Golden Silver), and tracing the ridges of the pattern to give “the outline of the snake some color.” Then she sealed me up with another coat of bulletproof clear and scooted my feet under a UV lamp for several minutes.

Wow. That's messed up. What do you think? Would you do it?

WHAT I WORE TODAY....Summers here, well kinda

In my attempt to re-program my wardrobe I piled on the girl today. Which meant wearing pink - and lots of it! I had an unfortunate hair day today, thanks to a broken shower I had possibly one of the worst hair days ever. I washed my hair over the sink. Nice.
What I love about this dress is that it looks vintage - it's not, but it looks like it could be. There were so many things I loved about it. The belt, the color, the pleated skirt, it just worked. It also comes in grey if pink isn't your thing. Be warned, I don't know if it's just me but I think it makes me look a bit fat.
dress = primark
belt = comes with dress
eyeliner = Rimmel
foundation = MAC
eyeliner = MAC
blusher/eyeshadow = Benefit
In saying how much I loved the dress, I still couldn't wait to get my PJs on and get a snooze in after my healthy dinner (sugarsnap peas and hummus with red bean mexican wraps) so I threw on my most comfy clothes, fell asleep and now I'm awake at 4 in the morning...

"As an industry leader who has devoted his entire professional life to women's footwear, Mr. Louboutin either knew or should have known about some or all of the dozens of footwear models that rendered his sworn statement false"

THE DREADFUL DIARIES : Tired James, take me home!

THE DREADFUL DIARIES : Self motivated as always.
Last week it seemed was the calm before the storm, the storm being that this week I am snowed under with work and assignments. However having a port to wait all this out in has been nice! I'm back in my place and LOVING being able to sort out things without relying on other people - I want it, I get it myself! I do miss having a washing machine and a toaster. I don't miss TV though. People always seem upset for me when I tell them I don't have a TV. What they don't realise is, I watched everything online. I haven't had a TV for three years now but I still catch my shows - I just don't wade through crap waiting for them to come on. I watch totally me TV - like Gossip Girl, CSI, House, True Blood and the occasional Mad Men. I haven't had to sit through anything shitty in years!
But all in all, I do love having somewhere to come home to. My own bed, my own DVDs, a kitchen and a backyard.
I am all over the place this week though, as you'll notice, blogging is down as a result of my internship and work. I'm working on art for a new magazine which is about to get started so I'm snowed under. Not to mention I've two press events this week and a fecking thesis to write. No wonder I'm in bed by eleven every night. So I'm asking you to be patient with me - I will resume blogging frenzy at the weekends! But for now, it's work time!
Counting down the days until Cork X Southwest - anyone else got tickets yet? Come on! Patti Smith!!!

that is all

Brilliant.

Is this Dove advert racist?

People are getting waaaaay ahead of themselves here! Apparently this Dove advert is racist. It's racist because of the way the women are standing (it took me a few goes before I got what they were on about) but, if you look the black woman is standing under the 'before' section and the white one is under the 'after' section. People are suggesting that this implies that the woman's skin color will change with use of the lotion.
Dove are many things, (boring being one of them) but racist? Lets not forget this is the company that insists on 'real women' being used for it's advertising campaigns - I highly doubt all this racism is real. I think it's just someone somewhere messing up and highly sensitive individuals with too much time on their hands worrying about invisible insults.

LOOKBOOK : H&M A/W 2011

More lovely images from the H&M Lookbook for A/W 11! I'm really quite shocked at how...well...how much I want them! I'm normally allergic to H&M! I've gotten one or two things there but I can never find more then that.
They seem to be big into their layering for next season, taking inspiration from gothic and grunge styles. Which is fine by me, I'm quite liking grunge at the moment - it means I don't have to brush my hair! Everyone's a winner!
I LOVE this jumper. Not sure about the grey flannel-y looking leggings or the boots (we don't like the boots at all) with. I think it would have been amazing over some super skinny ripped jeans - but the jumper shows that the buyers have been keeping an eye over street trends as those jumpers have appeared on hipsters in towns across Ireland. Bought for peanuts in vintage shops and then remade lovingly in Topshop for three times the price before younger and more impressionable hipsters rushed out to buy. Shame. Store bought and vintage bought are worlds apart in terms of the finished effect.

As predicted last years coats are this years coats. So if you invested in a) the camel coat or b) the cape (even a camel cape) then you can smile smugly to yourself - you've won. I do like the above cape though, it's not a standard one but more an updated version with a twist. However the camel coat presents a problem for me. I'm not sure camel looks great on blondes, nor am I sure a full length camel coat should be worn on anyone under 30 as I think at 25, I'm too young to get away with it. It makes me think of glam women in their 30's sipping cocktails and able to drive with husbands instead of twenty five and messy drunk in Twisted Pepper.

Ah the two toned boots. Prada started this one - or rather I'm going to blame Prada because it's midnight and I can't think of any other brand featuring the trend I want to blame. I hate it. I can't lie. Hate is a strong word though, and trends like this one have grown on me before. I just kinda hope this one doesn't...

I would write more, except - it's midnight - have a heart! I got one hours sleep last night thanks to my insomnia being back. My eyes and body hurt.
