PENNY........at the movies

So I've managed to see a rake of films lately and haven't had much time to write about it. I've been so busy with work that managing to get time for writing is difficult!

THE DICTATOR
There has been a lot of talk about this one. I went in with the lowest possible expectations. I thought, this has to be terrible. I mean Bruno was awful and I expected this to be along those lines. I was surprised though - its actually really funny.
It's offensive but then so are brothel creeper shoes. You get what you pay for from Sacha Baron Cohen really. You know what your getting into. The only thing with the dictator is that it has two layers of jokes. The first layer is the really funny political gags, the second layer  is the bit that doesn't work. In order to make the film more 'main stream', they have added a few sequences which have the type of humor that appeals to teenage boys. It really doesn't work because the rest of the humor is so slick and well put together. It just seems odd that they have stuck a series of bad taste, and really unfunny jokes together.
But all in all, its actually very funny and well worth watching!

MEN IN BLACK 3
I wasn't looking forward to this one either given that Will Smith has a serious ego problem. Every film he is in seems to be an excuse for him to whip off his shirt or flash his muscles. I don't know why I have the issue I have with that - but I do.
This is exactly the same as the first two - if you enjoyed both of them then your more then likely going to enjoy this one. It's not exactly great cinema and there isn't much of a plot but I guess if your going to see something like this then your not going because its art house or a think piece. Here is a scary fact though - it's fifteen years since Men in Black and ten years since Men in Black two. Seriously?!?!?!? Oh god! I just hope it stops here and we aren't subjected to Men In Black four.
