Judge dismisses Louis Vuitton case against the hangover two

Six months ago I reported that Louis Vuitton were attempting to sue the makers of The Hangover 2 for using a fake LV bag in the film.

They wanted all copies of the film destroyed, compensation and damages. The bags appear in one scene when Alan wheels a collection of LV luggage through the airport. Ironically, the bags are made by a Chinese company that manufacture fakes and LV have already won a lawsuit against them.

But the judge ruled in favor of the film and they escaped without having to destroy or pay anything back!
Louis Vuitton is trying to have it both ways,” presiding Judge Carter said. “Arguing that the Diophy bags are so similar as to create consumer confusion but at the same time so obviously dissimilar that someone watching the film would notice the slightly different symbols used on the Diophy bag.”

LV were arguing that the bag included in the film would cause consumer confusion....... Sadly no one has made the case that the film is shite and should be destroyed for that reason......
