So what trends did I spot in London?

So as I have mentioned about fifty times, I have returned from London. This will be the first of a fair few posts on my experiences over yonder as I want to share all the fun with you!
London is a beehive of starting trends and buzz. I love going over there and trend spotting. You get a sneaky peek at whats new and exciting.....so here goes

SHORT TROUSERS
I saw a lot of skinny jeans on men that finished at their calves. They were then wearing long socks with the jeans. I kid you not. I will state that this seemed to be a mainly hipster thing. It looks quite odd. The first time I saw it I literally stared at the guy. He teemed dark jeans with white socks and a leather jacket. The overall effect was odd but you'd get used to it. I guess this is the new thing!

BINDIS
I had quite a few of these things back in the day and they were popping up all over London. I first spotted the trend in MAC on Foubert Place. One of the girls had dark lipstick and brows with a gold bindi in the center of the forehead. I really like this trend and I think I am going to give it a go. I've since spotted it on a few girls around London and it seems to be appearing on blogs too.

DENIM SHIRTS
I first spotted this in G.A.Y one night as a lot of the men folk seemed to be wearing sleeveless denim jackets. I then noticed it was being worn all over London as well. It doesn't matter what you wear it with.

HAIR COLOR
A lot of girls are working the faded pastel look. I spied quite a few girls with pastel pink or purple steaks worked into the hair. I tried wandering into the Bleach concession in Topshop over the week but an over enthusiastic sales person chased me out. I was wondering if I could get an appointment and she came at me asking 'You do know this is a hair salon??' and made it sound like an accusation! I know my hair looks like shit love, but to be fair I was hoping ye might be able to handle it! My usual sales person wit wasn't working for me though and I fled while muttering some form of apology under my breath.....cool Penny...really cool....

COLLARS
I also noticed that there are a lot of collars on sale everywhere. I have a feeling that this will be a trend that will catch on once the items are less expensive. I don't think people have £20 to spend on a leather collar right now - no matter how cool it might look.

BACKPACKS
Backpacks are everywhere. I saw them on the street, clubs, coffee bars and on boys. The best way to wear it is to get a small leather bag in black - circa '94.....they go with everything and all outfits. If your not sure about the trend then Primark do a great leather version for roughly €13 which should hold all your bits - be prepared though - bouncers will always have a nosey through them!
